Lori Jenkins, Wyatt Bostons Owner, Breeder and Handler:
I've loved most animals since I was a little girl but I’ve always had a particular fondness for dogs. In 1991 I had my first chance encounter with a Boston Terrier and I knew from that moment on that this was the breed for me! I acquired my fist show dog that same year and set off on my new addiction.
I'll be honest, my first few years in the show ring were not a huge success but I continued showing, trying to better my skills as an owner handler.
In February of 1999, I placed a call to a breeder named Byron Elder, of Clearwater, Florida. At the time I had no idea of the impact this call would have on my life and my future with Boston Terriers.
Byron sent me a very handsome stud dog named Ch. Reneas Rock Buster. “Buster” and I fell for each other immediately as he’s quite the character and put a smile on my face daily. I decided to take him out as a Special and he won his first BOB appropriately enough on Memorial Day weekend (we also took 3rd in the group that day). |
It was a day and a feeling I will never forget! Buster took home a total of 13 BOB awards the following year, which for a small breeder like me, was quite an honor.
In the spring of 2000 I took my Bostons and headed to dog grooming school in South Carolina. While there, my girl Renea's Remarkable Reba, otherwise known as “Reba”, gave birth to Juni and Spencer, who are now known as Ch. Wyatt’s Dixie Chick and Ch. Wyatt's Sentimental Journey - my first two champions!
In February of 2007 I married Gene Jenkins, the nicest man I’ve ever met and we quickly took on a major project and in August of this year we opened “Wyatt's Bed & Biscuit”, a full service grooming and boarding facility located in a quiet country setting a stones throw from our home.
